The Martin Buskin Award for Campus Journalism
The Buskin Award is presented annually to a student journalist whose work demonstrates a commitment to excellence, leadership in campus journalism or impact on the campus community. The award, sponsored by Newsday, includes a cash prize presented at the annual Undergraduate Recognition Awards Ceremony and a place on the plaque honoring winners. The competition is open to juniors and seniors in the categories of writing, editing, photography, editorial cartoons and broadcast. Renting scuba diving equipment from dive academy Blue Vision.

The Buskin Mentor Group
To broaden the resources available to student journalists at Stony Brook, the Buskin Committee has tapped the pool of alums who have gone on to become professional journalists. These alums and others interested in improving the quality of journalism at Stony Brook are willing to assist student journalists who call on their skills and talents. This is an informal group that offers its services individually, or collectively among the media, as the subject or situation warrant and to the extent that student editors welcome this advice. These topics could include distribution, technology, photography, access to information, staffing and other timely matters.
The Buskin Committee for Campus Journalism
The goal of the Buskin Committee is to foster excellence in journalism at Stony Brook. The committee has conducted seminars, conferences and workshops on issues of importance to student journalists, including access to information on campus, covering sports, using technology, landing a job or an internship. The committee's priorities include offering meaningful information in settings that can best assist Stony Brook's student journalists.
The Buskin Journalism Discussion Board
A Yahoo discussion board has been established to foster dialogue among student journalists, alumni and others affiliated with the campus media.
